Human Together Unsung Heroes
At Denver Human Services we are committed to hearing directly from the community and to supporting and acknowledging the efforts of those who are deeply committed to helping our neighbors. We are excited to launch a new program to realize this commitment: The Human Together Unsung Heroes. The Human Together Unsung Heroes Program is an opportunity to elevate and acknowledge these leaders, who may may not always get the public recognition that they deserve.
Ten winners will be selected. The winners will be invited to participate in a celebratory luncheon and will receive a plaque recognizing their efforts.
We will prioritize nominations from community leaders that serve the 14 neighborhoods outlined in the Denver Human Services index: Athmar Park, Barnum, Clayton, College View, Elyria Swansea, Globeville, Kennedy, Montbello, Ruby Hill, Sun Valley, Valverde, Villa Park, Westwood, and Windsor.
Nominations must be submitted by August 30 at 5 p.m.
En los Servicios Humanos de Denver (o Denver Human Services en inglés) estamos comprometidos a escuchar directamente a la comunidad y a apoyar y reconocer los esfuerzos de aquellos que están profundamente comprometidos con ayudar a nuestros vecinos. Estamos emocionados de iniciar un nuevo programa para hacer realidad este compromiso: Humanos Juntos Héroes No Aclamados. El programa Human Together Unsung Heroes es una oportunidad para elevar y reconocer a estos líderes, que no siempre obtienen el reconocimiento público que se merecen.
Se seleccionarán diez ganadores. Los ganadores serán invitados a un almuerzo de celebración y recibirán una placa en reconocimiento de sus esfuerzos.

Denver Human Services will award 10 Human Together Unsung Heroes. An Unsung Hero is an individual who is recognized by their community, both formally or informally, as playing an influential role to guide, inspire, or lead others. This includes individuals who are dedicated to solving some of their community's most pressing issues – food access, mental health supports, climate change, income inequality, or increasing opportunities for residents in under-resourced communities. An Unsung Hero is a person that is an integral part of the fabric of our community, yet is often unrecognized for their contributions to what makes Denver a great city.
A Human Together Unsung Hero is a community leader who is committed to the following values:
- Leadership – exhibits a commitment to making a difference in the community
- Impact – effectively produces positive change for those in need
- Innovation – recognizes a need in the community and initiates the changes required to meet that need
- Empowerment – dedicates considerable time to the development of others
Servicios Humanos de Denver premiará a 10 héroes no acalamados de Humanos Juntos. Un héroe no aclamado describe a un individuo que es reconocido por su comunidad, tanto formal como informalmente, por desempeñar un papel influyente para guiar, inspirar o liderar a otros. Esto incluye a personas que se dedican a resolver algunos de los problemas más urgentes de su comunidad: acceso a alimentos, apoyo para la salud mental, cambio climático, desigualdad de ingresos o apoyanado mayores oportunidades para los residentes en comunidades de escasos recursos. Un héroe no aclamado es una persona que es una parte integral de la estructura de nuestra comunidad, pero a menudo no se le reconoce por sus contribuciones a lo que hace de Denver una gran ciudad.
