B-5527: Bridges On U.S. 52 over Toms Creek - Surry Co.
The N.C. Department of Transportation proposes to replace two bridges on U.S. 52 over Toms Creek in Surry County. Both bridges will be replaced in their current locations with new bridges that will meet the current NCDOT design standards.

Detour Routes
A temporary bridge will be built in the center median between the two bridges over Toms Creek and used as a detour.
Northbound traffic will be routed onto the detour bridge while the new northbound bridge (No. 122) is built.
Southbound traffic will be routed onto the detour bridge while the new southbound bridge (No. 126) is built.
The detour bridge will be removed after both new bridges are complete.
*Construction of the new bridges will take 18 - 24 months.
Project Funding
This project is listed as Project No. B-5527 in the N.C. Department of Transportation’s State Transportation Improvement Program. Right of Way aquisition and utilities are not required for this project.
