Project Overview

The Coal Creek project is replacing and widening the existing bridge structure over I-15. UDOT is replacing the bridge to add a 6-ft sidewalk on the north side to allow pedestrians and bicyclists to cross the bridge safely. Instead of a roundabout, a T-intersection is being installed at Kitty Hawk and Bulldog.

The project will be completed early 2022. However, crews will be returning in Spring 2022 to do final pavement work and striping. This work should take approximately one week.

Kitty Hawk/Bulldog access and Coal Creek/1045 N intersection access is anticipated to remain open during construction but please avoid the area when possible.

Updated Intersection Design

Instead of a roundabout, a T-intersection will be constructed at Kitty Hawk Drive and Bulldog Road. The design below will feature a stop sign on Bulldog Road and two crosswalks as part of the intersection. The intersection will be constructed this fall as part of the bridgework. Cedar City has lowered the speed limit on the bridge to increase safety.
