The North Central Texas Council of Governments invites your feedback on the draft Regional Bicycle Safety Action Plan for the Dallas-Fort Worth region during the public comment period, beginning May 1, 2026, and concluding June 26, 2026.
This Regional Bicycle Safety Plan was developed in response to the increasing number of bicyclist fatalities across the 12-county Metropolitan Planning Area and to align with the safety positions adopted by the Regional Transportation Council and the Texas Transportation Commission to reduce serious injuries and fatalities on Texas roadways. It is intended to provide guidance for our regional partners as well as the development of more detailed local plans, in support of the aspirational goal to reduce the number of bicyclist fatalities to zero.
Recommendations are supported by detailed crash analysis and public input. The Plan identifies action items for: Engineering, Education, Enforcement, and Evaluation.
