The project will upgrade and improve the overall safety of the intersection at Marion-Waldo Road (SR-423) and Barks Road in Marion, Ohio.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated June 6, 2018, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
The project will add a right turn lane from Barks Road to north SR-423. The project will realign the through lanes and turn lanes throughout the study area. The project will upgrade the intersection traffic signals to improve timing for traffic movement. Also, a combination of longitudinal channelizer (yellow poles) and concrete medians will be placed to increase safety through the study area. This will allow for better flow of traffic through the intersection and roadways.
Example of Longitudinal Channelizer
Some access drives will be affected by the proposed improvements and minimal right of way will be required to construct the proposed safety improvements. Construction is anticipated to begin in summer of 2022.
In an effort to reach out to the local community, ODOT District 6 is seeking public input regarding the proposed project. Comments will be received through August 31, 2020.
