Welcome to the Reedy Creek Greenway public input webpage. Reedy Creek Greenway is a new greenway trail approximately 3.25 miles in length that will connect the surrounding community to the diverse amenities found within Reedy Creek Park and Nature Preserve. Additional pedestrian access will be provided at Grier Road, Rocky River Road, Plott Road and Vermillion Drive. This project was funded through the FY2020 CIP and added 10'-wide paved trails to Mecklenburg County's growing greenway system.
A Stream Restoration was completed at Reedy Creek in the Spring of 2019, presenting a unique opportunity to design a greenway that further protects and is respectful to this sensitive ecological environment while educating and making this invaluable resource more accessible to the public. In addition, a section of this greenway project along Plaza Road Extension was built in collaboration with Charlotte Water's WT Harris/Plott Road Water Main Project.
Mecklenburg County is working in partnership with The Charlotte-Meckelnburg Remembrance Project to install a historical marker in remembrance of Mr. Willie McDaniel that will be adjacent to the Reedy Creek Greenway within the Nature Preserve.

PROJECT UPDATE: December 2025
- Construction of the greenway trail has been completed and is opened to the public!
- Other Additions (projected to be completed by Spring 2026):
- Historical marker installation and reflection area (ongoing).
- Plaza Road Extension Bike/Ped Crossings (Bidding projected for Winter 2025).
- Greenway Wayfinding (ongoing and projected to be installed by Spring 2026).
- Grand Opening Ceremony is projected for Spring 2026.
PROJECT UPDATE: July 2025
- Construction of the greenway trail has been completed.
- Historical marker installation is ongoing and projected to be completed this Summer/Fall 2025.
- Plaza Road Extension Bike/Ped Crossings are pending NCDOT approval and are projected to start construction this summer/fall 2025.
- Greenway Wayfinding is in planning and programming.
