Route 6
Scenario 1
- Currently, Route 6 connects Morreene Road, Duke, and Durham Station with 30-minute service. Route 6 has two branches, one serving American Village and the other serving Bennett Pointe Shopping. Route 6 has severe on-time performance issues, particularly during afternoon peak times.
- In Scenario 1, Route 6’s alignment would be simplified by having one consistent alignment ending at American Village. On-time performance would be also be improved by removing service to the Crest Street neighborhood (which will continue to be served by a restructured Route 4) and Holton/Glasson Streets .
- Between Fulton Street and Durham Station, Route 6 would operate every 15 minutes on weekdays. Route 6 would continue to operate with 30-minute frequency west of Fulton Street weekdays and Saturdays.
Scenario 2
- Currently, Route 6 connects Morreene Road, Duke, and Durham Station with 30-minute service. Route 6 has two branches, one serving American Village and the other serving Bennett Pointe Shopping. Route 6 has severe on-time performance issues, particularly during afternoon peak times.
- In Scenario 2, Route 6’s alignment would be simplified by having one consistent alignment ending at American Village. On-time performance would be also be improved by removing service to the Crest Street neighborhood (which will continue to be served by a restructured Route 4) and Holton/Glasson Streets.
- This service simplification would allow Route 6 to stay on time and operate with a consistent 30-minute frequency weekdays and Saturdays.
