Draft Envision Matthews Comprehensive Plan Now Available for Public Comment!

The Town of Matthews is in the final stretch of developing a new Comprehensive Plan and Downtown Plan. The plan will guide development in Matthews, provide a roadmap for future growth that respects the Town's character, and create strategies to implement the community's vision. The initial community survey was closed in April. Nearly 800 people submitted responses. (Scroll to the bottom of the page to see the results of the survey.) Town representatives have also been at several community events (including BeachFest and Beats 'n Bites) to discuss the plan and gather feedback. In May, the Town held an open house at the Sportsplex. 80 people (including lots of kids) attended the meeting to learn about the plan and to offer thoughts on the future of Matthews. There was a follow-up open house in September and a final open house at Town Hall on April 17. We now have the final draft of the Comprehensive Plan and Downtown Plan.The Planning Board will review the document at their April 23, 2024 meeting, and it is anticipated that it will go before the Board of Commissioners on May 13, 2024, at 7 p.m. for a final vote. (Meetings are held at Matthews Town Hall.)

The draft Envision Matthews Comprehensive Plan will be on the agenda for the Board of Commissioners at their May 13, 2024 meeting. The Board is expected to vote on the plan at that time. Although the comment period is closed, you can still review previous comments below.
