Project Overview

The Genesee Transportation Council is providing federal planning funds through the 2026-2027 Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) to assist Monroe County establish a feasible framework for the long-term stewardship of the three Olmsted Arched Pedestrian Bridges in Genesee Valley Park (GVP). The study will evaluate the condition of each bridge, historical significance, accessibility, and maintenance needs while documenting existing ownership and management responsibilities.

The project will develop both near-term repair recommendations and long-term rehabilitation or replacement alternatives, including cost estimates, implementation priorities, and potential funding sources. The study will also examine future ownership and maintenance frameworks to support the long-term stewardship of these important community assets.

Public engagement will play a central role throughout the process, with opportunities for residents, stakeholders, and partner agencies to help inform recommendations through surveys, interviews, a project website, and public meetings.
