Your responses will help Hillsborough County gain insight into the proposed safety enhancements, CIP# 69600103. This virtual public engagement will be open from Thursday, Oct. 27, to Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022.
Project Details:
The intersection of Bearss Avenue and Florida Avenue is located within the Lake Magdalene area, north of the City of Tampa, in Hillsborough County, Florida. As part of the Intersection Improvement Program, the purpose of this project is to increase capacity and improve the safety of the intersection. Improvements include adding a right-turn lane in the eastbound direction and converting the existing shared through-right lane to a dedicated eastbound through lane. Traffic signal modifications will be completed as part of the project.
Elements of the project to be constructed under Capital Improvement Project Number 69600103 include:
- Construction of an added eastbound right-turn lane on Bearss Avenue at Florida Avenue.
- New 6-foot-wide sidewalk along the additional right-turn lane to enhance walkability.
- Drainage and pedestrian improvements.
There is potential land acquisition to accommodate the proposed improvements. Design and land acquisition is anticipated to be complete in late 2023. Construction is anticipated to begin in early 2024 with construction ending in early 2025.
