Idlewild Road Park Improvements
Idlewild Road Park is an existing 203-acre Mecklenburg County Park located at 10512 Idlewild Rd, Matthews, NC 28105. The park includes ballfields, playgrounds, picnic shelters, a disc golf course, access to Irvins Creek Greenway, parking, and restrooms.

Proposed Improvements
Improvements to Idlewild Road Park include a new 8 foot wide bicycle and pedestrian connection to Margaret Wallace Road and a new skatepark. Other improvements to walkways and wayfinding may be necessary as part of this project. A downloadable version of the plan is at the bottom of the page. The skatepark survey is closed. We will post a final concept plan for the park and skatepark in Spring 2026.

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation will present information related to the improvements being proposed at Idlewild Road Park, specifically the addition of a bicycle and pedestrian connection to Margaret Wallace Road from the park and the addition of a skatepark.
