PRESENTATION TOPICS
Additional information about these topics will be found in the files tab on June 8.

Mobility 2050 Transportation Conformity Determination Received
On April 30, 2026, the US Department of Transportation granted a successful transportation conformity determination for Mobility 2050. The Clean Air Act of 1990 requires Metropolitan Planning Organizations with a nonattainment designation to perform an air quality analysis when a new metropolitan transportation plan is developed. Staff will present any effects on final project recommendations due to the Transportation Conformity review process.

Heavy Duty Diesel Emissions Tampering Detection
Staff have recently acquired devices as part of a Truck Assessment and Goods Movement Demonstration Project that can detect if an emissions system has been tampered with by scanning the truck’s computer. Staff will be collaborating with truck fleets and local commercial vehicle law enforcement officers to conduct tests and scan trucks throughout the region.

Parking Requirements Findings and Management Best Practices Update
The Parking Requirements Evaluation reviews 126 North Texas sites from the NCTCOG Regional Parking Demand Database to see how often developers exceed zoning minimums. It also compares required parking to observed use. Findings suggest that, along with improving data, cities and developers should expand their use of parking management tools and strategies. To support this work, NCTCOG has updated a Toolbox of Best Practices to help stakeholders improve parking outcomes for development and transportation in the region. More information:

Draft Regional Bicycle Safety Action Plan
The Regional Bicycle Safety Action Plan provides a framework for reducing the number of bicyclist crashes and fatalities in North Central Texas. NCTCOG staff analyzed crash patterns, identified bicycling challenges and developed strategies to prioritize safety in areas and corridors with a high number of bicycle crashes. To view and comment on the draft Plan, visit
PublicInput.com/BikeSafetyActionPlan. The deadline to submit public comments is Friday, June 26, 2026.

Look Out Texans: Bicycle Safety Tips
Look Out Texans encourages riders to stay safe by always wearing a properly fitted helmet using the “two finger rule” (tip #10) and by confidently claiming their space at intersections using the rightmost lane for their direction of travel (tip #13). Bicyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as motorists and staying visible and predictable helps prevent crashes.
